About the course

Build an introductory understanding of cloud services and virtual computing environments. The proposed certificate connects basic infrastructure concepts with practical administration in an authorised learning environment. Southern African cases should consider connectivity, cost, user support and data responsibilities, with architecture decisions explained at an appropriate introductory level.

Requirements

Recommended preparation includes relevant school mathematics, science or computing and the ability to follow written instructions. BMIT must confirm the approved National Certificate admission route, prerequisite learning and assessment rules. Comparable South African awards and vendor courses do not establish Zimbabwean award recognition.

Course content

The subjects are grouped by learning stage, from foundations to specialist study and supervised application. Complete earlier foundations before the related advanced work. Clinical, laboratory, field and workplace subjects use approved facilities and supervision appropriate to the programme.

  2. Operating Systems. Develop your understanding of operating systems through processes and memory. The subject develops file systems and scheduling, then examines concurrency and system administration. Investigate an authorised virtual-machine environment and record system behaviour.
  3. Computer Networks. Study layered communication and addressing as foundations for computer networks. The subject develops routing and switching, then examines network services and troubleshooting. Configure a small isolated teaching network or simulation.
  4. Programming Fundamentals. Examine variables, control flow and their relationship within programming fundamentals. The subject develops functions and data structures, then examines file handling and testing. Develop a small program which processes a defined teaching dataset.
  5. Academic and Professional Communication. Develop your understanding of academic and professional communication through reading strategies and evidence use.   • A focused applied project and presentation. BMIT and the awarding body must approve weighting, examination requirements and final award rules.

Practical application

Use an approved sandbox or local virtual lab with synthetic data. Learners should protect credentials, document resource settings and remove unneeded paid resources after exercises. Cloud spending and production changes require separate authorisation. A course project should show both a working result and a clear record of verification.
