- Electrical Quantities and Circuit Drawings. Build foundation skills in electrical quantities and circuit drawings. Guided examples introduce electrical quantities and units, followed by practice with circuit symbols and simple circuits. You will complete a supervised task, explain your choices and use drawing interpretation and measurement records to review the result.
- Electrical Safety and Work Preparation. Build foundation skills in electrical safety and work preparation. Guided examples introduce electrical hazards and authorised work, followed by practice with isolation concepts and protective equipment. You will complete a supervised task, explain your choices and use tool checks and reporting to review the result.
Stage 2: Technical subjects and guided application
- Tools, Cables and Installation Materials. Build foundation skills in tools, cables and installation materials. Guided examples introduce hand tools and cable types, followed by practice with conduit and fittings. You will complete a supervised task, explain your choices and use material compatibility and storage to review the result.
- Basic Electrical Installation Practice. Build foundation skills in basic electrical installation practice. Guided examples introduce training-board layouts and cable routing, followed by practice with terminations on isolated boards and mechanical support. You will complete a supervised task, explain your choices and use identification and quality checks to review the result.
- Circuit Protection and Isolation Principles. Build foundation skills in circuit protection and isolation principles. Guided examples introduce fault concepts and overcurrent protection, followed by practice with earth protection and isolation principles. You will complete a supervised task, explain your choices and use protective devices and authorised verification to review the result.
- Electrical Inspection and Maintenance Records. Build foundation skills in electrical inspection and maintenance records. Guided examples introduce visual inspection and equipment records, followed by practice with damage indicators and maintenance schedules. You will complete a supervised task, explain your choices and use escalation and completion records to review the result.
Stage 3: Enterprise and integrated proficiency
- Small Enterprise Records and Customer Communication. Study the development of a viable small enterprise from a defined customer need. Guided practice centres on a small-enterprise plan and test record, drawing on customer problems and enterprise opportunities and products, services and value propositions. You will record findings, justify decisions and check whether the financial assumptions and customer evidence support the proposal.
- Electrical Skills Proficiency. Demonstrate the practical skills developed across the programme. Tasks integrate electrical quantities and circuit drawings, tools, cables and installation materials within an agreed work brief. You will prepare resources, carry out the authorised task and check the result. Your evidence should show consistent performance, accurate records and an explanation of decisions within your learner role.
Assessment and practical learning
