About the course

Develop scientific reasoning through BMIT’s eight-subject AGCSE combination across Forms 1–4. Alongside compulsory TjiKalanga, English and Business Enterprise Skills, study Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science. Practical investigations connect scientific ideas with health, water, energy and technology in Southern African communities.

Requirements

Prepare with primary-level literacy, numeracy and a regular study routine. Tell your teacher which language or learning support you need.

Arrange access to required books, a suitable device and the supervised practical or fieldwork facilities for your subjects. Confirm BMIT entry arrangements and examination registration separately.

Course content

Eight subjects across Forms 1–4. TjiKalanga, English Language and Business Enterprise Skills are compulsory in every pathway. The five pathway subjects complete your programme.

Forms 1–4

  1. TjiKalanga (Kalanga). Develop your use of TjiKalanga through reading, conversation, listening and writing. You will work with local accounts and everyday situations, then produce longer explanations and creative responses. Language practice connects accuracy with meaning, audience and purpose throughout Forms 1–4. Compulsory common subject
  2. English Language. Develop the English you need for study, work and everyday communication. You will read varied texts, discuss their meaning and practise writing for different audiences. Increasingly demanding tasks build control of structure, vocabulary, grammar and evidence across Forms 1–4. Compulsory common subject
  3. Business Enterprise Skills. Study how a practical business idea develops into an organised enterprise. You will investigate customers, compare choices about resources and prepare a business plan. Local enterprises provide the setting for applying finance, marketing and management across Forms 1–4.   4. Mathematics. Build mathematical fluency through connected work on number, algebra, shape and data. You will use diagrams, symbolic expressions and calculations to solve increasingly demanding problems. Tasks develop both accuracy and the ability to explain your reasoning across Forms 1–4.   5. Computer Science. Develop an understanding of computer systems alongside practical problem-solving. You will organise data, design algorithms and test small programs while using applications responsibly. Activities progress from basic digital skills to documented solutions for school, community or business needs. Pathway subject

Forms 1–2 foundation, Forms 3–4 subject study

  1. Biology. Study living systems through cells, organisms and their environments. You will connect biological explanations with observation, diagrams and experimental evidence. Forms 1–2 provide scientific foundations before the separate Biology programme in Forms 3–4, including supervised practical work. Pathway subject
  2. Chemistry. Examine substances, their properties and the changes they undergo. You will use models, equations and measurements to explain chemical behaviour. Forms 1–2 build scientific foundations before separate Chemistry in Forms 3–4, supported by appropriate laboratory facilities and teacher supervision. Pathway subject
  3. Physics. Use measurement and models to explain physical processes. You will connect forces, energy, waves and electricity with everyday applications. Forms 1–2 establish mathematical and scientific foundations before separate Physics in Forms 3–4, including supervised investigations and analysis of results. Pathway subject

Assessment and practical learning

  • Regular language, subject-knowledge and problem-solving tasks with feedback.
  • A subject portfolio containing written work and relevant oral, digital, field or supervised practical evidence.
  • A BMIT integrated project and mock examinations. The registered examination centre must confirm ZIMSEC assessment arrangements and school-based project requirements.

Practical application

Develop a supervised investigation of a local issue such as water use or solar heating. Record measurements, analyse results digitally and explain uncertainty. Prepare a TjiKalanga community briefing, an English report and a simple enterprise feasibility note. Practical activities require suitable facilities and teacher supervision.

TjiKalanga (Kalanga)Compulsory common subject

Develop your use of TjiKalanga through reading, conversation, listening and writing. You will work with local accounts and everyday situations, then produce longer explanations and creative responses. Language practice connects accuracy with meaning, audience and purpose throughout Forms 1–4.

Develop the English you need for study, work and everyday communication. You will read varied texts, discuss their meaning and practise writing for different audiences. Increasingly demanding tasks build control of structure, vocabulary, grammar and evidence across Forms 1–4.

Study how a practical business idea develops into an organised enterprise. You will investigate customers, compare choices about resources and prepare a business plan. Local enterprises provide the setting for applying finance, marketing and management across Forms 1–4.

  • Prepare a simple enterprise plan with realistic costs and operating decisions.

Build mathematical fluency through connected work on number, algebra, shape and data. You will use diagrams, symbolic expressions and calculations to solve increasingly demanding problems. Tasks develop both accuracy and the ability to explain your reasoning across Forms 1–4.

BiologyPathway subject

Study living systems through cells, organisms and their environments. You will connect biological explanations with observation, diagrams and experimental evidence. Forms 1–2 provide scientific foundations before the separate Biology programme in Forms 3–4, including supervised practical work.

Examine substances, their properties and the changes they undergo. You will use models, equations and measurements to explain chemical behaviour. Forms 1–2 build scientific foundations before separate Chemistry in Forms 3–4, supported by appropriate laboratory facilities and teacher supervision.

  • Use particle and bonding models to explain chemical behaviour.
  • Interpret chemical equations and quantitative information.
  • Record and explain evidence from supervised chemical investigations.

Use measurement and models to explain physical processes. You will connect forces, energy, waves and electricity with everyday applications. Forms 1–2 establish mathematical and scientific foundations before separate Physics in Forms 3–4, including supervised investigations and analysis of results.

  • Use physical principles and mathematical models to explain observations.
  • Collect and interpret measurements with attention to uncertainty.
  • Evaluate evidence from a supervised physical investigation.
